02 Purpose
The Downtown Seymour Streetscape Plan, a collaborative effort between Seymour Main Street, Civitas Strategies, and Context Design, was developed to create a cohesive streetscape framework that guides current and future development while improving the social gathering spaces, physical aesthetics, and economic vibrancy of downtown Seymour. By building upon decades of planning efforts and incorporating findings from various foundational studies—such as the Vision 2020 and Vision 2025 updates, historic preservation guidelines, and city thoroughfare plans—the Master Plan project aimed to preserve the area’s historical and cultural assets while promoting sustainable economic growth.
03 Results
Adopted in January 2023, the Downtown Seymour Streetscape Plan provides actionable recommendations to enhance downtown Seymour’s appeal for both residents and visitors. Drawing on public input and in-depth research conducted by Civitas Strategies, the plan includes strategies for improved infrastructure, consistent design standards, and enriched public spaces that foster a welcoming environment. Key features include guidelines for streetscape improvements, lighting enhancements, alley activations, and connectivity to recreational and cultural amenities. This framework serves as a roadmap for ongoing revitalization efforts by Seymour Main Street.
