The Posey County Housing Study, commissioned by the Posey County Community Foundation and conducted by Civitas Strategies, was designed to provide a comprehensive, data-driven understanding of the County’s housing landscape. With input from community stakeholders, demographic analysis, and regional market data, the study aims to quantify current and projected housing needs across all income levels and age groups. This initiative is grounded in a commitment to support Posey County’s long-term vitality by identifying barriers to development, such as infrastructure limitations, affordability gaps, and regulatory challenges, and by offering actionable strategies to ensure that the county can meet the evolving demands of its workforce, families, and seniors.
03 Results
The findings of the Posey County Housing Study outline a roadmap for sustainable residential growth and economic development. By addressing gaps in the housing market, Posey County has the opportunity to attract new residents and support local employers in talent recruitment. Implementation of the study’s recommendations could position Posey County as a model for rural housing strategy, creating a more connected, vibrant, and resilient community.
